The Oswego State women’s ice hockey took to the ice for an exhibition contest on Saturday, defeating the Toronto Midget Aeros 2-0 at the Marano Campus Center Arena. Oswego’s regular season will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday as it travels to face Castleton State College.

Freshman Andrea Noss made her presence felt in the contest, scoring both of the Lakers’ goals. The Orange, Conn. native notched her first goal just 8:57 into the game, receiving a pass from Alli Ullrich before sending the score to the back of the net.

Just under eight minutes later, Noss was at it again, this time on the power-play. With a man-up advantage, assistant captain Lizzy Marks found Noss for Oswego’s second goal at 16:34.

On defense, senior Bridget Smith got the start in net for the Lakers, making six stops in the opening 20 minutes. Captain Tori Trovato relieved Smith for the second period, stopping a team-high nine shots. Newcomer Mariah Madrigal played the final period in goal for Oswego, making two saves.

The Lakers were solid throughout, winning eight more faceoffs than the Aeros (29-21) while the special teams unit killed three penalties without any damage.
