CALGARY, ALBERTA — The U.S. Women’s Under-22 Select Team scored twice in the final two minutes of regulation to force overtime and went on to a 3-2 shootout victory over Canada here today to complete a three-game sweep of the 2014 Under-22 Series.
Team USA captain Alex Carpenter (North Reading, Mass.) scored the game-tying goal and was two-for-two in the shootout to lead the way offensively.
“Both sides played well and we got down a couple of goals but our players never quit on each other and mounted a nice comeback late in the game,” said Ken Klee, head coach of the U.S. Women’s Under-22 Select Team. “I was really proud of our team today and throughout the series.”
