For the third consecutive week, the Hobart College hockey team is ranked 12th in both the USCHO.com and D3hockey.com polls.
The Statesmen are back in action this weekend with two New England Hockey Conference games in Boston. On Friday, Nov. 30, Hobart will take on UMass Boston, which is ranked ninth in both polls, at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Dec. 1, the Statesmen will take on Babson, which is receiving votes in both polls, at 4 p.m.
Hobart is coming off the Thanksgiving break with a 5-2-0 overall record, 3-1-0 in conference play. The Statesmen are third in the NEHC with six points. Senior Jonas Toupal leads the team with seven goals and 14 points. He is one of three players with a team best seven assists. Junior Lawson MacDougall is right behind him with 10 points on four goals and six assists. Toupal currently ranks sixth in the nation in goals per game (1.00) and points per game (2.00). First-year Zach Tyson is tied for the team lead with seven assists. He is currently eighth in the nation in points per game by a rookie (1.14).
Junior Alexander Connal has played a majority of the minutes in goal. He is 2-2-0 with a 3.04 goals against average and a .893 save percentage. First-year Liam Lascelle is coming off a 3-1 victory over New England College. He is 2-0-0 with a 1.50 GAA and a .955 save percentage.
The Beacons enter the weekend with an 8-1-0 overall record and a 6-0-0 mark in conference play. UMass Boston currently sits atop the NEHC standings with 12 points. Nolan Redler leads the team with eight goals and 13 points. Nick Albano is right behind him with a team leading nine assists and 12 points. Bailey MacBurnie has played a majority of the minutes between the pipes for the Beacons. He is 7-0-0 with a 1.43 GAA and a .931 save percentage.
The Beavers are 7-2-1 overall with a 5-0-1 mark in conference play. They are one point behind UMass Boston with 11 points. Babson hosts Skidmore on Friday night. Nick Rosa leads the Beavers with 13 points (7g, 6a). Matt Wiesner leads the team with eight goals and Mike Egan has a team best eight assists. Bryan Botcher and Matt Pompa have split time in goal for the Beavers. Botcher is 3-1-1 with a 1.60 GAA and a .945 save percentage. Pompa is 4-1-0 with a 2.62 GAA and a .921 save percentage.
