The 12u Jr. Sabres stay red hot as they roll past the Philadelphia Flyers in their first Quebec International Tournament game. The Flyers who are composed of the best players in Philadelphia came out fast with two early point blank chances which were both denied by Jr Sabres goaltender Matthew Alberti. The Jr. Sabres would respond soon after as Gavin Schrader scored on a tip from the slot. Rice and Jones were awarded the assists. Majority of the first period play was controlled by the Jr. Sabres but the score stayed 1-0 at the end of the 1st.

Jr. Sabres forward Brody Seitz would find the back of the net just 1-minute into the second period on a great feed from Daniel Urban. Philadelphia would record there only tally of the night as a scramble in front the Jr. Sabres net lead to a Flyers goal. Just minutes later however, Jr. Sabres defenseman Patrick Geary would make it 3-1 on a great shot assisted by Ryan Novo. They would take that 3-1 lead into the 2nd intermission.

Both teams would trade scoring chances in the 3rd period but both goalies played very well. For the 2nd straight game the opposing team was forced to pull their goalie late in the game which just like yesterday led to an empty net goal, this time by Jr. Sabres forward Daniel Urban. “I was happy with the boys effort today. Playing in front of a few thousand fans it would be easy for players at this age to lose focus. Will will need to play our best hockey from here on out if we plan to advance in this tournament” co-coach Craig Rivet said after the win.

The Jr Sabres will now await their next tournament opponent as they will take on the winner of the Honeybaked vs. LA Jr. Kings game Thursday morning. Tomorrow morning the team will have an exhibition game against the Slovakia Selects.
