COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The 13th annual Toyota-USA Hockey Disabled Festival concluded Sunday (April 9) and was a success on all fronts. The four-day event, which was played on five different ice sheets, featured 63 teams, nearly 800 players and 129 total games.

Solar4America at San Jose, the practice facility of the NHL’s San Jose Sharks, served as the main venue for the event, while Solar4America at Fremont (Calif.) also hosted games.

The largest disabled hockey event of its kind, the Festival included blind hockey, sled hockey, special hockey and warrior/standing amputee hockey.

Included as part of the Festival was the seventh annual USA Hockey Sled Hockey National Championship that ended with the Colorado Avalanche defeating the Chicago Blackhawks by a 5-3 count in the championship game. It was the third straight title for the Avalanche.
