COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Goaltender Thatcher Demko (San Diego, Calif./Boston College), defenseman David Warsofsky (Marshfield, Mass./New Jersey Devils) and forward Miles Wood (Buffalo, N.Y./Boston College) have been added to the 2016 U.S. Mens’ National Team that will compete at the International Ice Hockey Federation Men’s World Championship May 6-22 in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia.
Demko will be representing the United States for the fourth time. A two-time U.S. National Junior Team member (2015, 2014), he earned a silver medal with the U.S. Men’s National Under-18 Team in 2013.
Warsofsky will be seeking his third medal with a U.S. National Team. In addition to helping the U.S. National Junior Team capture a gold medal at the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship in Saskatoon and Regina, Saskatchewan, Warsofsky captained the bronze medal-winning U.S. Men’s National Under-18 Team at the 2008 IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championship in Kazan, Russia.
Wood will be skating for the U.S. a second time after representing Team USA in the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship in Montreal and Toronto, Canada.

NOTES: Thatcher Demko was named the 2016 Mike Richter Award winner as the most outstanding goaltender in NCAA men’s hockey … David Warsofsky was a member of the Boston University squad that claimed the 2009 NCAA National Championship … Miles Wood, who along with Thatcher Demko helped guide Boston College to the 2016 NCAA Frozen Four, made his professional hockey debut with the New Jersey Devils on April 10, 2016 … John Hynes (New Jersey Devils) is serving as head coach of the 2016 U.S. Men’s National Team … Of the current 16 players on the U.S. Men’s National Team roster, 10 are alumni of the United States Hockey League, the only Tier I junior league in the United States; five spent time in the North American Hockey League, the only Tier II junior league in the U.S.; 12 have competed at the NCAA Division I level; and nine played for USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program … The staff and players of the 2016 U.S. Men’s National Team are selected by the U.S. Men’s National Team Advisory Group, led by Jim Johannson, assistant executive director of hockey operations for USA Hockey. Other members include Stan Bowman (Chicago Blackhawks), Dean Lombardi (Los Angeles Kings), David Poile (Nashville Predators), Ray Shero (New Jersey Devils), Dale Tallon (Florida Panthers) and Don Waddell (Carolina Hurricanes). Teams will play a round-robin format within their group and the top four teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals.
