After leading the Canisius College hockey team to a win at No. 17 Denver on Saturday, junior netminder Keegan Asmundson was named Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Week by the league on Tuesday.
Asmundson stopped a career-best 36 shots in the 4-1 victory against the nationally-ranked Pioneers. The junior anchored the Griffs to the program’s sixth all-time win against a nationally-ranked school and the first versus a non-conference foe.
In seven career contests, Asmundson has posted a 2-0-1 record with a 1.38 goals against average and .957 save percentage. He also collected Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week accolades after leading the Griffs to a 3-1 win over Alaska last season.
Asmundson and the Griffs return to action this weekend with a pair of games at nationally-ranked Miami. Canisius opens the series with the sixth-ranked RedHawks in Oxford on Friday at 7:35 p.m.
