The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has assigned defensemanAlex Lepkowski to the Greenville Road Warriors of the ECHL and goaltender Andrey Makarov to the Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL.
Lepkowski, 20, appeared in 60 games with the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) last season, where he collected nine assists and 78 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-4, 214-pound native of West Seneca, New York, played in 203 career OHL games with Barrie and Saginaw, recording 27 points (8+19) and 238 penalty minutes. In 38 career OHL playoff games, he registered seven points (4+3) and 48 penalty minutes.
Makarov, 20, played in 61 games with the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League (WHL) last season, posting a record of 37-17-2-3 with a 2.62 goals-against average, a .919 save percentage and seven shutouts, and was named the Outstanding Goaltender for the 2013 Memorial Cup. In 115 career WHL games with Saskatoon, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound native of Kazan, Russia, went 66-38-3-4 with a 2.80 goals-against average, a .916 save percentage and nine shutouts.
