    Buffalo Stars Coach selected to Team USA Master’s Ball Hockey Team

    Patrick Bernas, a resident of Buffalo, NY and current head coach of the Buffalo Stars Bantam Minor AA hockey team has been recently selected to the final roster for Team USA Master’s Ball Hockey Team.  Team USA will be competing in the 2014 Master World Ball Hockey Championships in Tampa Bay, FloridaSeptember 16th-21st. 

     

    Other teams that will be competing in the 2014 World Championships represent the countries of Canada, Greece, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria and Switzerland to name a few. The selection process for Team USA included a tryout this past September in New Jersey with more than 250 participants, followed by another tryout in December which was held in Philadelphia. The final roster was announced in late December by the directors of Team USA ball hockey.

    Patrick has been playing ball hockey since the age of 15.  Bernas commented “This is not only an opportunity to play for my country and wear red, white and blue, but an opportunity to represent my family, fellow hockey players, city of Buffalo, and the Buffalo Stars Organization.”   

    In preparation for the World Cup, Patrick will be traveling to Pottstown, PA along with 24 Team USA players for a training camp as well as practice sessions throughout the summer.

    Janet has been covering women's hockey for over 35 years. Along with a 38 year career in Public Relations and over 40 years photographing sports, she found a passion in women's hockey.
