POTSDAM, N.Y.-SUNY Potsdam senior women’s hockey playerBrittany Lucky (Kanata, Ontario/Ottawa Senators) has been named second team All-USCHO by U.S. College Hockey Online. Lucky joins teammate Jordan Ott, the website’s rookie of the year, who claimed a spot on the all-rookie team.
“It is a great accomplishment as an individual to be recognized nationally for ones effort,” Bears Head Coach Jay Green said. “Brittany is a very hard working, committed athlete that strives to be the most effective player she can be. Receiving this recognition is a tribute to her efforts throughout a solid career. Here at Potsdam, we are proud and fortunate to have had Brittany as a member of the Bears hockey program for a successful four-year tenure.”
Lucky, who has been a Potsdam captain since she was a sophomore, had a career year in 2013-14 and was named honorable mention All-ECAC West. She scored four goals and assisted on 22 others for 26 points, good for fourth on the team in scoring. In her four seasons, the defenseman played in 101 of the Bears 103 games. She totaled 16 goals and 44 assists for 60 points, placing her fourth on Potsdam’s all-time scoring list.
This season Lucky tied for ninth in the nation with 0.85 assists-per-game and her 1.00 points-per-game was third best in the NCAA among defenseman. In ECAC West play she ranked first in assists (16) and power play points (11), second in points by a defenseman (18) and 12th in overall conference points (18).
The Bears’ 2013-14 campaign was one of the best in team history. Potsdam tied its overall and conference wins mark with a 12-10-4 record (7-5-4 ECAC West). The Bears’ first ever winning record in conference play helped them clinch their third straight playoff berth and the fourth in the program’s six seasons.
