POTSDAM, N.Y.—SUNY Potsdam men’s hockey coach Chris Bernard has announced
that junior forward Todd Thomas (Davidsville, Pa./Hartford Wolfpack) will
serve as the Bears’ captain for the 2014-15 season. Senior forward Ken
Simon (Norwell, Mass./Philadelphia Revolution) and junior defenseman Brad
Campagna (Monroe, N.Y./New York Bobcats) will be Potsdam’s assistant
captains this year.

Thomas played in 24 of the Bears 25 games last season, scoring three goals
and adding 11 assists for 14 points. In his two seasons, the Davidsville,
Pa. native has 24 points on six goals and 18 assists in 49 games.

“Todd has proven to be a consistent model for our team identity,” said
Bernard. “He is a responsible, two-way player who has earned the respect
of his peers with his consistent and hard-working approach to the game.
Our guys know he is a team-first person.”

Simon played in every game last season, totaling five goals and nine
assists for 14 points. He has seen action in 71 games and recorded 14
goals and 25 assists for 39 points in his career. Campagna also played in
all 25 games during the 2013-14 campaign and finished with two goals and
two assists. He’s played in 40 career games.

“Both Simon and Campagna compete hard every day,” Bernard said. “They hold
themselves accountable and are fully invested in representing the best
interests of their teammates. They will push people to be better.”

While this trio will don the letters, leadership is not in short supply
with this edition of the Bears.

“With so many seniors, who have contributed such a great deal over the
past several years, we are fortunate to have a great deal of quality
leadership,” added Bernard.

Potsdam hopes to give SUNY Plattsburgh a frightening Halloween when the
Bears host the Cardinals to open the season at 7 p.m. on Oct. 31.
