Utica, NY (November 10, 2014) – Junior forward Mackenzie Roy(Clinton, NY/Clinton) and sophomore goalie Keira Goin (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Hotchkiss School) of the Utica College women’s hockey team were named the ECAC West Player and Goalie of the Week, respectively.

Roy is currently tied for first in the country in goals per game (1.50 p/g) and leads the squad in points and goals as she guided UC to a conference opening sweep over William Smith this past weekend. She racked up four points on three scores and one assist including back-to-back goals on Sunday. The local Clinton, NY native gave Utica a 5-1 lead late in the second period Sundayand later put the nail in the coffin, halfway in the third, to secure a 6-3 victory and the weekend sweep.

Goin stopped 13 shots on Saturday en route to a 2-0 win and her first shutout as a Pioneer. She saved six shots in the first, five in the second and two in the third while avoiding four power-plays in the crease.

The Pioneers are 2-0 on the season as well as in the ECAC Women’s West and are back on the ice Saturday when they open up a home-and-home series with Oswego. The puck is set to drop at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Aud and then 3 p.m. Sunday in Oswego
