PLATTSBURGH, NY—Nationally fifth-ranked Plattsburgh (4-0-1/4-0-1) raced out to a 5-0 lead by the middle of the second period and cruised past visiting Buffalo State (1-2-2/1-2-2) for a 6-1 win in a SUNYAC game tonight at Stafford Arena.

The Cardinal netted a pair of goals in just over a minute in the middle of the opening frame, and then blew the game open with a four-goal second period.  Jake Rosen (E. Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) scored his second of the season with assists from Ryan Salkeld (Virginia Beach, VA/Churchland) and Garrett Chardon (Old Field, NY/Ward Melville) to get the Bengals on the scoreboard, cutting the deficit to 5-1, but Plattsburgh reclaimed the five-goal advantage minutes later.

Neither team would score in the third period as the Cardinals finished with a 40-22 advantage in shots for the game.  Mike DeLaVergne (Pawling, NY/Pawling) allowed two goals on eight shots, before being relieved by freshman Ian Sylves (Sloan, NY/JFK).  In his first collegiate action, Sylves stopped 28 of 32 shots faced.  Plattsburgh finished 2 for 6 on the power play, and Buffalo State was 1 for 5.

Buffalo State will wrap up its North Country trip tomorrow with another league game at Potsdam at 7 p.m.
