OSWEGO, N.Y. – Chris Raguseo and Matt Zawadzki of the men’s ice hockey team have both been recognized by the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) for the week ending on December 7, 2014. Raguseo has been named Men’s Ice Hockey Player of the Week, while Zawadzki has been garnered with Goalie of the Week honors.

Raguseo notched four points in a two-win weekend for the Lakers, helping the team move to 7-1-2 on the season and 5-1-1 in the SUNYAC. The sophomore began the weekend scoring the eventual game-winning goal against No. 4/4 ranked Plattsburgh on Friday on the road. Raguseo continued to aide in the team’s efforts during the following day’s game against Potsdam, recording an assist on each of Oswego’s first three goals.

Zawadzki played every minute in net for the Lakers this weekend, helping Oswego secure its two crucial conference road victories. In the weekend’s opening game against Plattsburgh, the sophomore recorded 30 saves and only allowed one goal in a 3-1 win over the Cardinals. Zawadzki was a wall in the following day’s defeat of Potsdam as well, stopping 28 shots and only allowing a single goal. The Fort Mills, S.C. native concluded the weekend with a .967 save percentage.

Men’s ice hockey returns to action after the holiday break when it hosts the PathFinder Bank/Oswego State Hockey Classic in the Marano Campus Center Arena. The Lakers first game of the tournament will be at 7 p.m. on January 2nd against Tufts University.
