Utica, NY- The Utica College women’s hockey team was ranked No. 10 in the d3hockey.com national poll, released Monday. This marks the first time this season the Pioneers have been ranked in a national poll.

The Pioneers (5-3-2) picked up 10 points in the poll, the most they have received this season. UC is coming off a 2-1 loss to No. 3 Norwich University on Friday. Sophomore Keira Goin (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Hotchkiss School) made 28 saves and allowed just two power play goals, while classmate Victoria Pelton (Sterling Heights, MI/Belle Tire) netted the lone goal for UC. All three of Utica’s losses this season have come against teams ranked in the top-three in the nation.

Utica is one of three ECAC West Conference teams ranked in the top-ten as Plattsburgh State and Elmira College are ranked No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. UC is led by junior Morgan Reed (Fort Myers, FL/Cushing Academy), who has a team-best nine goals and 16 points. She ranks seventh in the country with 1.60 points per game and her .90 goals per game rank sixth nationally.

The Pioneers welcome No. 4 Middlebury College to the Utica Memorial Auditorium on Tuesday for a top-ten clash. Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
