The Hobart College hockey team is ranked No. 15 in this week’s USCHO.com Division III poll. The Statesmen who are 5-1-0 in 2015 and 11-5-0 overall are also the top team receiving votes in this week’s D3hockey.com poll.
Hobart picked up a 7-0 win over Salve Regina and a 4-3 victory over Nichols over the weekend. The Statesmen sit atop the ECAC West and rank sixth in the nation, averaging 4.44 goals per game. Hobart also ranks 12th in the country in scoring margin (1.62), 14th on the power play (25.6%) and 15th in winning percentage (.688).
Junior forward Bo Webster (Aurora, Ontario) leads the team with 20 points on six goals and 14 assists. He ranks second in the ECAC West in points. Webster ranks second in the ECAC West in assists and is tied for 14th in the nation in assists per game (0.88). Senior forward Brad McBride (Lone Tree, Colo.) sits atop the conference with 10 goals. He shares first in the league and is tied for sixth in Division III with five power-play goals.
Junior Lino Chimienti (Montreal, Quebec) and first-year Frank Oplinger (Sewickley, Pa.) have split time in goal. Chimienti logged the second shutout of his career on Friday night against the Seahawks. He’s sporting a 2.68 goals against average and a .918 save percentage to go along with a 6-3-0 record this year. Oplinger has posted a 3.01 goals against average, a .907 save percentage and a 4-2-0 record.
