Hamilton College’s Sam Walther ’18 (Gambrills, Md./The Gunnery [Conn.]) was selected the NESCAC Women’s Hockey Player of the Week on Feb. 16.
Walther posted a save percentage of .979 and a 0.48 goals against average in a 1-0-1 weekend for the Continentals. She made 21 saves in Friday’s 1-1 tie at Bowdoin College and stopped all 25 shots she faced in Saturday’s 2-0 win against the Polar Bears. The series win was Hamilton’s first ever against Bowdoin and Walther’s shutout was just the second for the Continentals in 35 all-time meetings with the Polar Bears.
Walther is ranked seventh in the conference with a 1.83 goals against average and is 10th with a .931 save percentage. She leads Hamilton into two NESCAC home games against Colby College this weekend. The teams play at Russell Sage Rink on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m. and again on Sunday, Feb. 22, at 3 p.m.
