Bray Crowder gave the Buffalo Jr. Sabres a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Georgetown Raiders when he scored 7:01 into the extra period.
The win gave Buffalo a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.
The Jr. Sabres were sparked by Crowder, who registered one goal.
The defensemen of Buffalo were also effective in Georgetown’s zone, and came away with two goals.
Buffalo also had goals scored by Michael Bevilacqua and Ryan Kuhn, who scored one goal each. More assists for Buffalo came via Zach Evancho, who had two and Daniel Lafontaine and Ben Casale, who each chipped in one.
The Raiders’ offense rang up 44 shots on the Jr. Sabres’ net.
Georgetown was helped by Blake Jones, who grabbed one goal. Jones scored 15:46 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Georgetown. Richard Court provided the assist. Georgetown also got a goal from Steve Hladin as well. In addition, Georgetown received assists from Anthony Marra, Brendan Jacome, and John Adams, who contributed one each.
Buffalo’s Alex Connal stopped 42 shots out of the 44 that he faced. The Jr. Sabres incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Marc Williams rejected 24 shots on goal for the Raiders. Georgetown incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
