Amerks Agree To Terms With RIT’s Matt Garbowsky

(Rochester, NY)… The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has agreed to terms with forward Matt Garbowsky on an American Hockey League contract for the 2015-16 season. Garbowsky will join the Amerks for the remainder of this season on an Amateur Tryout (ATO).

Garbowsky, 24, recently completed his collegiate career with Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), recording a school-record 54 points (26+28) and 28 penalty minutes in 40 games this season to rank tied for fourth in NCAA Division I in points and tied for third in goals. He also leads Division I with 729 face-off wins. Garbowsky, who was named as one of 10 finalists for the Hobey Baker Award and earned Atlantic Hockey Conference Player of the Year and Best Defensive Forward honors, helped lead RIT to an appearance in the NCAA Midwest Regional Final while serving as team captain.

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound native of St. George, Ontario, finished his four-year career at RIT with 114 points (48+66) and 80 penalty minutes in 128 games with the Tigers.
