TROY, N.Y. – Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) head men’s hockey coach has announced the addition of goaltender Cameron Hackett to the program’s Class of 2019.

“We are excited to have Cam join the RPI Hockey Family,” said Appert. “He has the talent and competitiveness to be an elite collegiate goalie. His years in the USHL have readied him for NCAA hockey.”

A native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., Hackett played last season with the Lincoln Stars of the United States Hockey League. In 43 games, he was 13-25-2 with a 3.85 goals against average and an .895 save percentage. It was the third year in the USHL for the 6-1, 210-pound goaltender, who played parts of the previous two years with the Green Bay Gamblers. He was 5-8-2 with a 2.59 GAA and .908 save percentage in 18 games in 2013-14 and 3-2-1 with a 3.24 goals against average and an .895 save percentage in six games in 2012-13.

Hackett joins seven others who will also be coming to Troy for the fall semester. Among them are five forwards and two defensemen. (Click HERE to read about Hackett’s classmates.) The newcomers join a program that returns six defensemen, 11 forwards and two goalies.
