WEST POINT, N.Y. – Members of the Army West Point hockey team traveled to Fort Bragg, N.C., last week to conduct two skills clinics for numerous area youth hockey programs at Cleland Rink.
The team welcomed over 50 players to the clinic and most, if not all the participants, had parents that are or were in the military.
Head coach Brian Riley and assistant coaches Eric Lang and Zach McKelvie, along with 12 skaters tutored the young players. They taught the aspiring hockey players, skating, stick handling and shooting skills.
“The staff and players were honored to be able to run a clinic for the youth hockey players at Ft. Bragg,” Riley said. “It was a great experience as we thoroughly enjoyed coaching the young players and we are looking forward to doing another clinic in the near future.”
Coach Riley was presented a Cape Fear Warriors jersey by Cape Fear Youth Hockey Association President Chris Churchbourne following the clinic.
The Black Knights are currently hosting multiple weeks of camps at Tate Rink during the month of July. The season starts on Oct. 9 when Army West Point welcomes Boston College. Ticket information for the upcoming season will be announced at a later date.
