(Rochester, NY)… The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has signed forward Allan McPherson and defenseman Josh Chapman to one-year, two-way American Hockey League contracts.
McPherson, 24, recorded eight points (3+5) and four penalty minutes in 44 games with the Amerks last year in his first full pro season. He also registered 23 points (8+15) and 18 penalty minutes in 24 ECHL games with the Elmira Jackals. In 2013-14, McPherson appeared in five AHL games and recorded one assist with the Abbotsford Heat after completing his collegiate career at Clarkson University. In four seasons at Clarkson, the 5-foot-10, 180-pound native of Kinburn, Ontario, registered 103 points (41+62) and 88 penalty minutes in 150 games. As a senior in 2013-14, McPherson led the Golden Knights in scoring with a career-high 32 points (13+19) in 42 games.
Chapman, 20, appeared in 44 games with the Sarnia Sting of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) last season, recording eight assists and 84 penalty minutes. He also played in five postseason games for the Sting. During the 2013-14 season, the 6-foot-4, 214-pound native of Stouffville, Ontario, set career-highs in goals (1), assists (11), points (12) and penalty minutes (154). In four seasons with Sarnia, Chapman collected 25 points (2+23) and 321 penalty minutes.
