The Binghamton Senators rallied from two goals down in the third period to win 5-4 in overtime over their host the St. John’s IceCaps. Fredrik Claesson notched the game-winning goal 1:35 into the sudden-death overtime period to give the B-Sens the win in the first of two games in as many nights in Newfoundland.
Following a scoreless opening period, Colin Greening, who finished the evening with a Gordie Howe Hat Trick, opened the scoring 1:41 into the second frame with a shorthanded goal. Patrick Mullen skated into the IceCaps zone and sent a shot that was redirected towards the corner boards where Greening was waiting to one-time it past Dustin Tokarski from a sharp angle for his second goal of the year. Bud Holloway answered for St. John’s on the power play at 7:45 of the second before back-to-back goals from Gabriel Dumont 8:21 apart made it 3-1 IceCaps. With just under one minute to play in the middle period, the B-Sens’ Eric O’Dell beat Tokarski with a wrist shot for his third marker of the year to make it 3-2 heading into the third.
St. John’s quickly regained their two-goal cushion just 1:35 into the third when Darren Dietz sent a slapshot from just inside the blue line to beat Binghamton’s Chris Driedger for his first goal of the year. Matt Puempel started the B-Sens’ rally with less than 10 minutes to play in regulation when he sent a feed from Mullen on the power-play over Tokarski’s glove for his first of the year. Travis Ewanyk first point as a Binghamton Senator came in the way of a game-tying redirect off of a Ben Harpur slap shot with just over three minutes to play in regulation.
Following a whistle stoppage in the overtime frame, Nick Paul won the faceoff for Binghamton and pushed the puck towards the end board to Claesson who then skated around the net to complete the game-winner.
Driedger stopped 24 of 28 shots faced to improve to 2-0-0 while Tokarski finished with five goals allowed on 37 shots to drop to 2-2-0.
Wednesday, October 21: Binghamton 2, St. John’s 3

The Binghamton Senators fell to the St. John’s IceCaps 3-2 in the second of two straight games versus their division rival. The B-Sens failed to rebound after allowing three goals in the opening 20 minutes of play despite outshooting the IceCaps 42-21 over the course of the contest.
St. John’s opened the scoring just 1:37 into the first period when Dietz let loose a slap shot from just inside the blue line that beat the B-Sens’ Matt O’Connor over his glove hand to make it 1-0. Just over two minutes later, the IceCaps doubled the lead when Daniel Carr grabbed his first of the year off assists from Michael McCarron and Christian Thomas. Mac Bennett gave the hosts the three goal cushion heading into the first intermission with his first marker of the year with just over eight minutes to play in the frame.
Binghamton came out firing in the second period outshooting St. John’s 14-5 over the 20 minutes of play. O’Dell scored his fourth of the year and second against the IceCaps this year just 1:44 into the period to shrink the lead to 3-1. Just over five minutes later, Max McCormick pushed home his first tally of the year to make it a 3-2 score heading into the final period of regulation.
Despite outshooting the IceCaps 12-5 over the final 20 minutes of play, the B-Sens comeback bid fell short as they fell 3-2.
O’Connor finished with 18 saves on 21 shots faced while Zachary Fucale stonewalled 40 of 42 shots by the B-Sens.
Saturday, October 24: Binghamton 5, Toronto 1

PP: Binghamton 0-for-3, Toronto 0-for-3
The Binghamton Senators returned to home ice on Saturday night with a big 5-1 win over the Toronto Marlies. Cole Schneider notched two goals and an assist along with Puempel chipping in one goal and two helpers while Driedger stopped 26 of 27 shots faced to lead the B-Sens to victory.
Puempel opened the scoring 6:51 into the first period after Schneider picked up a loose puck at the red line following a sloppy defensive change by the Marlies. Skating into the Marlies zone 2-on-0, Schneider sent a cross-ice feed to Puempel who one-timed it into the back of the net. With less than two minutes to play in the first period, David Dziurzynski made it 2-0 Binghamton with his second strike of the season. Dziurzynski sent a wrist shot from the top of the right faceoff circle that surprised Toronto’s Garret Sparks and snuck between his legs. Binghamton took the 2-0 lead into the first intermission break with a 13-9 advantage in shots on goal.
O’Dell continued his hot start to the season when he notched his team-leading fifth goal with a one-timer off a feed from Tobias Lindberg.
Toronto managed to cut the B-Sens lead to 3-1 just less than five minutes into the third when Josh Leivo’s slap shot from the blue line managed to sneak behind Driedger for his second goal of the season. Schneider returned the B-Sens three-goal advantage less than one minute later when he skated in on a breakaway before beating Sparks for his second goal of the year. Schneider’s second of the night came with less than five minutes to play in regulation off a great cross-ice feed from Puempel to move the final score to 5-1.
Sparks finished with 31 saves on 36 shots faced while Driedger earned his third win of the year in as many starts in net for Binghamton.
Sunday, October 25: Binghamton 1, Albany 4
Shots: Binghamton 24, Albany 38
PP: Binghamton 1-for-6, Albany 4-for-10
The Binghamton Senators failed to string two consecutive wins together for the third time this year as they fell 4-1 to the Albany Devils. Despite holding a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes of play, the Devils notched four straight power-play scores over the final 40 minutes of play to claim the win.
Puempel notched his third goal of the year when he knocked home a rebound on a power-play chance from a Paul scoring chance with just over 1:30 to play in the opening period to give the B-Sens the 1-0 lead heading into intermission.
With Albany working the power play, Matt Lorito snuck one past a diving O’Connor to even the score 1-1 6:33 into the second frame. Corey Tropp made it 2-1 with less than 6 minutes to play in the period to give the hosts the one goal advantage heading into the final break.
Joseph Blandisi recorded his second score of the year 6:44 into the final period off a feed from Lorito to make it 3-1. Reid Boucher pushed the final score to 4-1 with a power-play tally with just over nine minutes to play in regulation.
The B-Sens O’Connor allowed four goals on 38 shots faced while Yann Danis stopped 23 of 24 shots faced for the victory.

PROMOTIONS AND COMMUNITY EVENTS…
The B-Sens host the Utica Comets on Saturday, October 30, at 7:05p.m. for the first Dunkin Dark Blackout Nite of the 2015-16 season. It will also be the Freaky Friday Halloween themed game with Trick-or-Treating around the concourse. Fans are encouraged to wear costumes.
The Binghamton Senators announced the date for the annual “Meet the Team” night at Tioga Downs Casino. This year’s event will take place Tuesday, November 3, and is open to the public.
Players and coaches will be available for autographs starting at 6:00p.m. followed by hor d’oeuvres at 6:30p.m. Those in attendance will enjoy a 7:00p.m. dinner with a Binghamton Senators player or coach seated at their table. There will be limited seating available for this great event!
Tickets include a $10.00 FREE PLAY for those 18-years-and-older and an automatic entry into a raffle for tickets to a Binghamton Senators home game.
Tickets are $30.00 for those 18-years-and-older and include a ticket for the November 7 game, $20.00 for Binghamton Hockey Booster Club members and $15.00 for 3 to 17 years old. Children 2 and younger are free.

Forward Eric O’Dell had a three-game goal scoring streak after registering a mark in the October 20th game, October 21st and October 24th. He currently is the tied as the top scorer for the B-Sens and leading goal scorer with five goals in six games.
Forward Michael Kostka currently leads the B-Sens in plus/minus with a plus-8 and is tied for third in the entire AHL.
