The Buffalo Jr. Sabres’ Bryce Ferrell scored 2:58 into overtime to beat the Orangeville Flyers, 4-3 (OT).

Buffalo overcame a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Jr. Sabres was down 3-0 after a goal by Orangeville’s Lucas Smilsky at 5:33 in the second period. Buffalo tied things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Ferrell at 10:22 in the third period.

The Jr. Sabres’ offense rang up 37 shots on the Flyers’ net. Buffalo’s penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Jr. Sabres finished with 46 penalty minutes.

Zach Evancho also scored for Buffalo. In addition, Buffalo received assists from Christian DiFelice, Matthew Buchbinder, Brenden Dunning, David Baskerville, Joshua Biasillo, Griffin Lunn, and Ryan Wheeler, who each chipped in one.

Orangeville kept Buffalo’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Tucker Weppner made 39 saves on 42 shots. The Flyers found themselves short handed often, totaling 38 penalty minutes and allowing eight power plays.

Orangeville was helped by Ethan Wiseman, who finished with one goal. Wiseman scored on the power play 10:49 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Orangeville. The Flyers had gained a power play chance when DiFelice was whistled for high sticking. Josh DeFarias assisted on the tally. Orangeville additionally got points from James McLaughlin, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Smilsky, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Orangeville came via Colin Rigney and Connor Stack, who contributed one each.

Orangeville’s Nicholas Latinovich stopped 33 shots out of the 37 that he faced. The Flyers registered two goals on seven power play opportunities.
