UTICA, NY- The Utica College women’s hockey team is currently receiving votes in the D3hockey.com national rankings, released Monday.
The Pioneers picked up one vote in this week’s poll after sweeping William Smith College in the opening weekend of ECAC West Conference action. Utica is currently 4-0 on the year, marking its best start since the 2006-2007 season, when UC went on to win a program-record 18 games.
UC is led by senior Morgan Reed (Fort Myers, FL/Cushing Academy) and junior Gabrielle Schnepp (Northville, MI/Belle Tire) who are tied for second nationally with 2.75 points per game. Freshman Lauren Patterson (Burlington, Ontario/Oakville) is tied for fourth nationally in freshman scoring with 2.25 points per game, and her seven assists on the season rank first in the country. Junior Keira Goin (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Hotchkiss School) has been solid in net as she has compiled a .67 goals against average and .972 save percentage, both of which rank in the top ten nationally in their respective categories.
The Pioneers return to action next weekend as they take on conference opponent Oswego State in a home-and-home series. The teams will faceoff at Oswego on Saturday, before traveling to Utica on Sunday to wrap up the weekend. Both games are scheduled for 3 p.m.
