LOCKPORT, N.Y. (November 19, 2015) — The Lockport Express is giving hockey fans and local residents their own “shot” at a very important “goal”—helping save lives. The Junior A hockey team is inviting community members to roll up a sleeve and give blood at a special American Red Cross holiday blood drive on Saturday, December 5.
“The Lockport Express hockey program is committed to giving back to the community and this blood drive is an outstanding opportunity to do so,” said Frank Vecchio, head coach of the Lockport Express Junior A hockey team. “We are honored to be a part of this event and ask the community to get behind this as well to support a great program in the Red Cross.”
Lockport Express Holiday Blood Drive

2 – 6 p.m.
Cornerstone Ice Arena
34 Chestnut Street, Lockport
To make an appointment to donate, download the Blood Donor App, call 1-800-RED CROSS or visit redcrossblood.org
All those who come to donate at this blood drive will receive two tickets for any Lockport Express Jr. A hockey home game for the 2015-2016 season. Additionally, all presenting donors will also receive gift cards and other offers from local restaurants and establishments.*
This holiday season, the Red Cross encourages individuals and organizations to give something that means something by making a lifesaving blood donation or hosting a blood drive. Blood donations often decline between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day as people become busy with holiday festivities, but hospital patients don’t get a break from needing blood products. Donors of all blood types, particularly O negative, A negative, B negative and AB are encouraged to make an appointment to give the gift of life. #GiveWithMeaning
Blood donors can now save time at their next donation by using RapidPass to complete their pre-donation reading and health history questionnaire online, on the day of their donation, prior to arriving at the blood drive. Visit redcrossblood.org/RapidPass to get started.
