MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Mustangs fell in the second game of their non-conference series at Neumann University on Saturday evening by a score of 7-2.
Morrisville and Neumann skated through the first period with a scoreless tie, however that would change in the second period when the Knights opened the scoring just over five minutes in. The Mustangs responded a minute later to even the score at one goal apiece. Danny Liscio (Woodbridge, Ontario) found the back of the net for his sixth goal of the year. David Landau (Newtown, Conn.) and CJ Stubbs (Pleasant Grove, Utah) notched the assists.
The Knights ended up coming right back to take the lead 2-1 just 44 seconds later. Neumann continued to extend their lead by scoring two more times in the period, one of which was on a 5 vs 3 power play.
The Mustangs brought the score to 4-2 nearly three minutes into the third and final period when Stubbs found the back of the net. Liscio and Darren Young (Woodstock, Ontario) picked up the assists. Unfortunately, any comeback attempt by Morrisville was put to bed by the Knights as they tallied three more goals in the third period for the 7-2 victory.
The Mustangs will return home on Friday, December 4 for the first game of a home and away series against SUNY Canton. Game time is set for 7 PM on Friday night at the IcePlex on the campus of Morrisville State.
