(Rochester, NY)… The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has recalled forward Matt Garbowsky from the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL.
Garbowsky, 25, has recorded three points (1+2) in five ECHL games this season with Elmira. He has also registered one assist in eight AHL games with the Amerks this year. Last season, Garbowsky completed his collegiate career with Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), recording a school-record 54 points (26+28) and 28 penalty minutes in 40 games to rank tied for fourth in NCAA Division I in points and tied for third in goals. He was named as one of 10 finalists for the Hobey Baker Award and earned Atlantic Hockey Player of the Year and Best Defensive Forward honors while serving as team captain. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound native of St. George, Ontario, joined the Amerks at the end of the season and recorded one assist in eight games.
