The Stampede entered the Holiday break for 2015-2016 on a more relaxed note competing in the 6th annual “Turkey Cup” which this season was renamed by the players as the “Dingo Cup”. Captains Manny Rowe and Rocco DeRollo held a draft to select teams for this seasons event that was held December 9th 2015 at Morrisville State College. With teams chosen and team names stated, Team ROC (Rocco DeRollo, Coach Beavis) and Team Sting (Manny Rowe,Coach Lefevre) the puck was dropped and play began.

Both teams battled hard to try and capture the cup and bragging rights for the remainder of the season. The back and forth battle raged on for the better part of an hour until Team Sting and Coach Jason Lefevre began to walk away with the contest. Eventually Team Sting would win the contest 10-4 and gain bragging rights for the remainder of 2015-2016.

“We like to make sure the guy’s have fun at times and the holidays are always the best time to get them to relax a bit and unwind.” said coach Mike Beavis. “The guy’s tend to work harder when bragging rights are on the table. We saw some good things from the players today, they brought systems and communication with them into the fun event.” added coach Jason Lefevre

The Stampede enter this seasons break in 5th place after a tough 5-3 loss to Roc City on Friday night in Rochester, in a game where the short bench Stampede outshot the Royals but things just didn’t bounce their way. Only 2 points seperate them from 3rd in the West. “The last two playoff spots are up for grabs and with a strong second half, we will be there in the end.” Stated Beavis

The Stampede will have plenty of opportunities to secure playoffs as they will battle Lockport and Roc-City several times down the home stretch and two of those three teams will most likley qualify for a post season spot.

The Stampede would also like to pass on a speedy recovery to Nick Sanborn (Collar Bone Surgery), Josh Wallace (wrist) and Nate Walker (Concussion) and hope they are all able to get back with the team after the holiday break. The Stampede return from break on Monday January 4th to begin to prepare for a two game match-up vs the Jersey Shore Wildcats at home on January 9th and 10th at “The Ice Plex”at Morrisville State College.
