BURLINGTON, Vt. – Craig Puffer scored two goals and Tournament MVP Packy Munson made 20 saves to lead host Vermont to a 4-1 victory over Colgate in the final game of the Catamount Cup Wednesday at Gutterson Fieldhouse.
Puffer gave the Catamounts a 1-0 lead at the 14:45 mark of the first period as he fired a wrist shot past Colgate keeper Charlie Finn from the top of the slot for his first collegiate tally.
The two teams traded goals during the second period. Mike Panowyk brought the Raiders level just 2:18 of the middle frame, sliding the puck between the legs of Munson for his third goal of the season.
Anthony Petruzzelli restored the Catamounts one-goal advantage at the 17:23 mark of the second when he completed a 2-on-1 shorthanded rush for his sixth marker of the campaign.
Puffer expanded the Vermont margin to 3-1 with his second tally of the contest at the 2:36 mark of the third period. Brendan Bradley closed out the scoring with 2:55 remaining in the contest, notching his fifth goal of the campaign.
Munson stopped 43 of 44 shots faced during the Catamount Cup to earn Tournament MVP honors. Finn recorded 17 stops in goal for Colgate.

“I honestly thought we played pretty well tonight. Certainly it was our best second period of the season. We did a lot of the things we wanted to do; it seems like every mistake we make right now ends up in the back of the net.
“I liked a lot of things we did tonight, but too many pucks are ending up in the back of our net. We’ve got to find a way to make sure that doesn’t happen.”
