ADRIAN, Mich. – The Manhattanville College women’s ice hockey team was unable to slow down the powerful offense of the nation’s fourth ranked Adrian College Friday night in the opening round of the Adrian College Bruiser Bowl.

Sophomore transfer Megan Messuri (Stoneham, Mass./Northwood School) made her Valiant debut between the pipes and was faced with the difficult task of shutting down the Bulldog attack. Messuri made 10 saves on 14 shots in just over 15 minutes of action in her first game before being replaced by junior Olivia Drew (York, Maine/Portland Jr. Pirates). Drew finished the game making 31 saves on 37 shots as the Bulldogs (10-2 overall) overpowered the young Valiants on the offensive end.

The Valiants (3-7 overall) fell behind early as Adrian jumped ahead just over a minute into the game. The Bulldogs tacked on four more goals in the opening period, while Manhattanville was able to manage just one shot on goal in the period.

Adrian continued to pressure Manhattanville in the second period, finding the back of the net four more times in the frame. After mustering just one shot again in the second period, the Valiants offense found its stride in the third period, firing nine shots on target but was shut down by Bulldog goaltender Anne Rademacher.
