After keying a victory at conference rival RIT on Friday, freshman Dylan McLaughlin (Lancaster, N.Y.) of the Canisius College hockey team earned Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week accolades, announced on Tuesday.

In two games versus the Tigers, McLaughlin recorded four points on a goal and three assists. He registered the first multi-point game of his career in Friday’s victory, recording three points as Canisius posted a 6-3 win. The rookie, who also registered an assist on Saturday, scored a goal via a great individual effort where he skated around the zone before finishing on a wrap-around, while also adding a pair of assists for the Griffs.

In 22 games as a freshman, McLaughlin leads all Canisius rookies with 11 points, four goals and seven assists. The weekly accolade is the first in his career.

McLaughlin and the Griffs are back in action this week with a pair of home games against Battle of the Bridge rival Niagara. The schools are set to meet at HARBORCENTER on Thursday at 7:35 p.m. and on Saturday at 3:05 p.m.
