The Utica Comets are proud to announce that their Second Pro Combine will be taking place again this Spring, starting March 26th and running through April 22nd. Comets President Robert Esche, Head Coach Travis Green and Assistant Coaches Paul Jerrard and Nolan Baumgartner will be teaming up with Utica College Coaches Gary Heenan and Dave Clausen and former NHL player and current Montreal Canadiens Pro Scout Mark Mowers to form one of the most experienced coaching groups a camp has to offer. On top of that, former professional hockey players John Massoud and John Emery, along with current Utica Comets Vice President and former NCAA player Keith Veronesi, will round out the coaching staff. Throughout the month of the Combine, the coaching staff will focus intensively on individual skill development, including power skating, stick skills and puck possession.
All combine attendees will be given the opportunity to utilize SportTesting, a high precision testing system that shows any athlete where they stand globally, providing a blueprint for true improvement and development. SportTesting has the ability to test individual athletes and then provide them with detailed reports to a personal online account. Through this online account, each player can use the comparative data to pinpoint strengths and weaknesses, target training, track improvement and compete with peers. SportTesting utilizes a global standard for each of the drills performed, allowing for participating athletes to know where they stand across all tested athletes around the world.
The 2nd Comets Pro Combine will be catered to three specific age groups: Mites (2007 and 2008 birth years), Squirts (2005 and 2006 birth years) and PeeWees (2003 and 2004 birth years). The cost of the combine will be $200.00 and will include eight (8) hours of on-ice training, SportTesting, off-ice training and skill development under the watchful eye of the professional coaching staff.
There will also be a Learn to Play program taking place in conjunction with the combine. This program is catered to 2009 and 2010 birth years. The cost of the Learn to Play Program will be $125.00. A more detailed schedule will follow for each specific age group, but throughout March 26th to April 22nd, practice times will fall between 5:00 pm and 9:15 pm.
Registration will open on Monday, January 25th. There will be a limit to the number of spots available for this combine and learn to play program. Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Please be sure to send in the Player Registration sheet. This sheet should be submitted with payment.
