FREDONIA, N.Y.— Three straight goals, including a game-winner from Ryan Salkeld (Virginia Beach, VA/Churchland) gave Buffalo State a 4-2 conference win in a “Battle by the Lake” matchup against Fredonia on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Nick Berst (Depew/Lancaster) opened scoring in the game after converting a Fredonia turnover into a quick shot from just inside the blue line at 6:03 in the first period.
Fredonia scored a goal three minutes later to tie the game, 1-1.
In the second period, a Blue Devil goal on a breakaway at 6:17 gave Fredonia a 2-1 lead.
Buffalo State took advantage of a power play opportunity late in the second period to tie the game up off a goal from Taylor Pryce (Newmarket, ON/Cardinal Carter).
With under five minutes to play, Salkeld ‘s game-winner came on a shot from the right point near the Fredonia bench.
Sean Hrivnak (Laval, QC / College Laval) added an insurance goal on a power play with just over one minute left in the game.
Mike DeLaVergne (Pawling/Pawling) earned the win and finished the night with 29 saves.
The Bengals outshot the Blue Devils, 48-31.
FOR THE FOES
Jimmy Morgan and Taylor Bourne tallied goals for Fredonia.
Eric Bogart recorded the loss, making 44 saves in 59:06.
NOTEWORTHY
The victory earned one point for Buffalo State in the season-long, all-sports “Battle by the Lake” competition between the two schools. Fredonia currently lead the competition 8-7.
