HENNIKER, N.H. – Freshman Rose Pijaca (Worcester, Mass./Worcester Academy) tallied 37 saves, but the Valiant offense was shutout by the Pilgrims of New England College Saturday afternoon in a New England Hockey Conference Matchup.
Pijaca was solid between the pipes for Manahttanville (6-10 overall, 4-6 NEHC), stopping 37 shots on the afternoon and allowing just one goal to the Pilgrims (8-10 overall, 3-7 NEHC).
The Pilgrims would jump ahead midway through the second period, when Rachel Vigliano found the back of the net for what would be the game-winning goal. Manhattanville would register 27 shots on goal on the afternoon, led by junior Taryn Harris (Morrison, Colo./Colorado Selects) who recorded five shots on the afternoon.
New England would tack on an empty net goal in the final seconds of the game to make the final 2-0. For Manhattanville they fall to 4-6 in conference play on the year, remaining two points ahead of New England in the conference standings.
The Valiants will return to Playland Ice Casino on Tuesday when they host Connecticut College. Faceoff for that game is scheduled for 7:00 P.M.
