OSWEGO, N.Y. – Matt Galati scored two goals to lead the Oswego men’s hockey team to a 3-1 victory over Cortland Friday night in SUNYAC action. The Lakers improved to 10-7-2 overall and 7-4-1 in the conference, while the Red Dragons fell to 7-9-3 and 1-7-2.
Sam Sam Pinsler (Chicago, IL/Green Mountain Glades) scored Cortland’s goal with senior Michael Mascaro (Merrick/NY Apple Core) recording an assist. Sophomore goalie Drew Weigman (Gaithersburg, MD/Northern Cyclones) made 42 saves.
Brandon Adams addded a goal for Oswego, Shawn Hulshof recorded two assists and four others each collected one assist. Goalie Adrian Ignagni registered 23 saves.
After a scoreless first period, Adams gave the Lakers the lead 7:04 into the second period. Pinsler tied the game at 19:25 with his sixth goal of the season, but Galati netted his first goal of the game nine seconds later to make it 2-1 heading into the third period.
Galati increased the lead to 3-1 just 1:17 into the final stanza with his second goal of the night, and the advantage held up the remainder of the game.
