Lockport Express Hangs On To Down Wilkes-Barre, 5-3

Wilkes-Barre tried its best to erase a three-goal deficit, but Lockport would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-3.

A goal by Christopher Gasiewicz put Lockport up 5-2 in the third period, but Wilkes-Barre pulled to within two on Darrin Bruce Jr’s tally 15:05 into the third period.

Lockport excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Lockport kept Wilkes-Barre’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Devin Peterson made 33 saves on 38 shots. Lockport could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 27 minutes in penalties during the game.

Lockport was led by Erick Santiago, who registered three goals. Lockport also got points from Mark Friol, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Lockport received assists from Jordan Pocobello, Kurt Villani, Ryan Logar, and Dylan Jenkins, who each chipped in one and Peter Guido and Fankie Bodami, who contributed two each.

Wilkes-Barre’s offense rang up 47 shots on Lockport’s net. Wilkes-Barre was often in penalty trouble, as it ended with seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time.

Wilkes-Barre was led by Brett Welsh, who finished with two goals. Welsh scored the first of his two goals at 12:32 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Lockport.
