COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — USA Hockey announced today that the 2016 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament will be held at the Dr Pepper StarCenter Arena Frisco from Aug. 9-13, 2016, in suburban Dallas, Texas.
The annual tournament, which features many of the world’s best hockey players under the age of 17, will include national teams from the Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia and Switzerland, in addition to the United States.
Team USA won the Under-17 Five Nations Tournament last year, finishing undefeated (3-1-0-0) in Arosa, Switzerland. It marked the sixth championship in eight tries for Team USA, which also claimed top honors in 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010 and 2008.
Last contested on American soil in 2011, the tournament provides an international stage for a select team of players chosen at the USA Hockey Boys Select 16 Player Development Camp, held each July in Williamsville, New York. Previous editions of the U.S. Under-17 Select Team have included future NHL standouts Nick Bjugstad (Florida Panthers), Dustin Brown (Los Angeles Kings), Justin Faulk (Carolina Hurricanes) and Kyle Okposo (New York Islanders).

NOTES: Ann Arbor, Michigan, was the last U.S. city to host the Under-17 Five Nations Tournament (2011). Team USA won the event, with players from 11 different states, going 4-0-0-0 under the direction of head coach Bob Corkum, now a New York Islanders assistant coach … USA Hockey’s Kenny Rausch will serve as general manager of the 2016 U.S. Under-17 Select Team.
