FREDONIA, N.Y. — Seven different players had goals in Oswego’s 7-2 SUNYAC men’s hockey win Saturday night over Fredonia at Steele Hall.
Todd Schauss (Terryville, Conn.) closed out his freshman year with both goals for the Blue Devils, who saw their season end at 8-14-3 overall and 4-10-2 in the SUNYAC. They were his fifth and sixth goals of the season.
TJ Sneath scored the go-ahead goal for the Lakers at 7:16 of the second period to break a 1-1 tie. He scored during a scrum to the right of Fredonia goaltender Jeff Flagler (Owen Sound, Ont.). The officials convened for over a minute before awarding Sneath the goal.
Sneath also had an assist and earned the No. 1 star. Connor Boyd earned the No. 2 star with a goal and an assist for Oswego. Schauss was the No. 3 star.
The Blue Devils were outshot 43-20. Flagler was called on to make 36 saves in his final collegiate appearance. Matt Zawadzki had 18 saves for Oswego.
The Lakers improved to 13-10-2 overall and 8-7-1 in the conference. They are headed to the SUNYAC Tournament as the No. 4 seed starting Wednesday.
In addition to Flagler, five other Fredonia players were recognized prior to the final game of the season. They were Taylor Bourne (Calgary, Alberta), Mitch Kaufmann (Red Deer, Alberta), Daniel Martensson (Malmo, Sweden), Ryan Wilkinson (Calgary, Alberta), and Zach White (Taberg, N.Y.).
