Vander Esch Earns All-SUNYAC Recognition

POTSDAM, N.Y.-SUNY Potsdam men’s hockey player Dylan Vander Esch (San Jose, Calif./Hartford Wolfpack) has been named to the All-State University of New York Athletic Conference’s third team, the conference announced this afternoon.

Vander Esch, just a sophomore, is leading the Bears in scoring for the second straight season with 17 goals and 10 assists for 27 points. His average of 0.68 goals-per-game is 11th-best in the nation and third in the SUNYAC. The forward leads the team and is fourth in the conference with five power-play goals.

In 48 career games, Vander Esch has scored 32 goals and recorded 17 assists for 49 points. The San Jose native gets his points in bunches. He has four career hat tricks and has totaled 14 multipoint games to go with 10 power-play goals and five game-winners.

Potsdam opens the SUNYAC playoffs tomorrow night when the sixth-seeded Bears invade SUNY Geneseo’s Wilson Ice Arena to take on the third-seeded and the No. 12 nationally ranked Ice Knights at 7 p.m.
