UTICA, NY – Sophomore Anthony McVeigh (Kemptville, Ontario/Carleton Place (CCHL)) of the Utica College men’s hockey team was named to the D3hockey.com National Team of the Week on Tuesday. The honor marks the first time in his career that McVeigh has been named to the National Team of the Week.
McVeigh had two points in Saturday’s ECAC West Conference Tournament semifinal game at Manhattanville. He netted the game-winner with two minutes left in overtime to help the Pioneers earn a 4-3 victory. He also scored the game-tying goal in the third period to force overtime.
McVeigh currently leads the team with 19 points on seven goals and 12 assists this season. He has five points (three goals, two assists) in his last three games.
The Pioneers (14-9-4, 6-6-3 ECAC West) hit the road on Saturday to face off against Hobart College in the ECAC West Championship game, which is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
