DANBURY, Conn. – The Manhattanville men’s hockey team was honored for its proficiency in the classroom after a bounce-back season on the ice, as 15 Valiants were named to the ECAC Men’s West All-Academic Team, as announced by the ECAC conference office on Tuesday morning.

To be eligible for the Men’s West All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic year at his current institution, and have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale. Every one of the team’s eligible players earned the recognition this season, marking the first time in team history that has happened.

Overall, Manhattanville placed fourth out of six ECAC West Conference schools with its 15 All-Academic honorees, but that number will surely rise next season when the team’s 12 freshmen and one first-year sophomore are also eligible for the recognition.

Seniors Matt Coleman (Brentwood, N.Y./Springfield Pics (EJHL)), Phil Lux (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis Jr. Blues (NA3HL))and Kurt Williams (Rocky Mountain House, Alta./Salmon Arm Silverbacks (BCHL)) all earned the honor for the third straight year, the maximum allowed by the conference, while five juniors – Phil Dinner (Dallas, Texas/Connecticut Oilers (EJHL)), Tanner Hicks (Calgary, Alta./Brooks Bandits (AJHL)), Nolan Marshall (Drumheller, Alta./Camrose Kodiaks (AJHL)), Adam Platt (Trumbull, Conn./Springfield Jr. Pics (USPHL)) and Teagan Waugh (Nanaimo, B.C./Powell River Kings (BCHL)) – all were named for the second straight season.
