Junior Shane Conacher (Burlington, Ontario) of the Canisius College hockey team was honored on the CoSIDA Academic All-District I At-Large Team on Thursday.
Conacher is now eligible for the prestigious Academic All-America honors, which will be announced in early June. Conacher is 1-of-12 Division I hockey student-athletes in the country to collect the district honor.
Coanchor is 1-of-10 student-athletes to be named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large Team. District I encompasses all student-athletes from Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont in the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
A first-team All-Atlantic Hockey selection, Conacher led the Griffs with 46 points during his junior campaign – the third-most in the program’s history – on 20 goals and 26 assists. He also established a new school record with six game-winning tallies, while ranking 17th nationally in points, 16th in goals, 26th in assists and eighth in game-winning goals.
