The Cheyenne Stampede Tier II Junior A Hockey Program of the Tier 2 Western States Hockey League is excited to announce that the Buffalo Hornets of the NCPHL have affiliated with the Cheyenne (Wyoming) Stampede.

According to Mark Lantz, Stampede GM, “This “Affiliation” will help both organizations with player movements, scouting, and developmental events.”
Teams will be able to secure and “Promote” and/or freely move players between the teams in this deal.

Lantz went on to say, “It’s really all about the players, player movement and player options, for the Hornets, it is that “Carrot” of having a Tier II team to set your eyes on and for the Stampede players it’s knowing there are 25 other players that want their spot or even more valuable is the ability of calling up players in the event of an injury or flu bugs”

Head Coach Gary Gill had this to say; “We will see player movement from our club down to their club. Instead of having 25 players in our system we have 50 in a two tiered program. It’s exciting to see the work that the Hornets staff has done to this point.

“The mission of the Hornets is parallel to ours here in Cheyenne. To develop players and move them to the highest level possible. We will be inviting players from the Hornets to our main camp having them challenge our players for a spot on our team.

“It is our goal to have players sign two way contracts out of our Main camp. We look forward to working with the staff from the Hornets”
