OTTAWA – The Ottawa Senators (@Senators) announced the schedule and list of 36 players attending the team’s annual development camp, presented by Sport Chek, which will take place from Tuesday, June 28, to Monday, July 4, at Canadian Tire Centre and the Bell Sensplex. The club has invited four goaltenders, 12 defencemen and 20 forwards. Each of the camp’s on-ice sessions will be open to the public. For a .pdf copy of the Development Camp roster, please click here.
Each of the club’s five selections from the 2016 NHL Draft, held this past weekend in Buffalo, will attend this year’s camp. Local fans will get their first chance to welcome Logan Brown, a centre from the Ontario Hockey League’s Windsor Spitfires, who the Senators selected with their first-round pick last weekend (11th overall).
The development camp, which focuses on off-ice and on-ice training, is led by Senators assistant general manager Randy Lee and player development coach Shean Donovan in addition to members of the Senators coaching staff including associate coach Marc Crawford, assistant coach Rob Cookson, goaltending coach Pierre Groulx, video coach Kristopher Young, conditioning coach Chris Schwarz, goaltending development coach Kory Cooper, Binghamton Senators head coach Kurt Kleinendorst, B-Sens assistant coach Steve Stirling and University of Guelph head coach Shawn Camp. Senators senior advisor of hockey operations, Daniel Alfredsson, will also participate in on-ice sessions.
The annual evening scrimmage will take place at the Kanata Recreation Complex (100 Charlie Rogers Place) on Saturday, July 2, at 4:45 p.m. The scrimmage provides the Senators’ prospects with the opportunity to showcase their respective talent in a game-like setting (two 20-minute periods), while allowing fans the chance to see the future of the hockey club up-close. Following the scrimmage, Senators season-seat members will be invited to remain at the KRC for an exclusive meet and greet opportunity with the prospects and to attend a management hotstove session.
