Sabres Sign Grant To One-Year Deal

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Sabres announced the team has signed forward Derek Grant to a one-year, two-way contract.

Grant (6’3”, 202 lbs, 4/20/1990) spent the 2015-16 season in the Calgary Flames’ organization, where he split his time between Calgary and the Stockton Heat (AHL) and was selected to play in the AHL All-Star Challenge. The Abbotsford, British Columbia native ranked third among Heat players with 45 points (27+18) in 36 games and paced the club with 1.25 points per game.

In 40 career NHL games between the Flames and Ottawa Senators, Grant has recorded three assists and six penalty minutes. Drafted by the Senators in the fourth round (119th overall) of the 2008 NHL Draft, Grant has also posted 162 points (88+74) and 174 penalty minutes in 292 career AHL games.
