The Syracuse Stampede added goaltender Steven Kozikoski this past spring to their roster for the 2016-2017 season. Kozikoski, the 6’4″ netminder from Liverpool, NY. Will be in the mix for the Stampede this season.
“I watched Steven at the tier ll national tournament this past spring and was very impressed with his ability. He moves very quickly for a big kid and tracks the puck well.” states coach Mike Beavis. Kozikoski, is no stranger to the Stampede coaching staff as coach Jason Lefevre has worked with Steven over the years. “Koz is a great kid that works very hard. I have had him in several of my camps over the years and feel he is ready to step it up a bit and make the jump to juniors. It will be nice to have one of my students play for us this season for sure.” states coach Jason Lefevre.
Kozikoski is a 99 birth-year player with plenty of time to grow as a goalie over the next few seasons. “Our goal with Koz is to bring him into the mix for the future and to help him develop into an NAHL goalie for next season or the following year or to help him move onto the college level of play.” added Beavis
Kozikoski will join Stampede netminders Ryan Scheide (96 Odessa TX), Martin Sten (98 Huddings, SWE) and Mike Eastman (2000 Verona, NY) The Stampede feel that they will have depth at the goaltender position and it will be interesting to see who jumps out to prove they could be the go to guy this season.
The Stampede will begin training camp on August 29th at “The Ice-Plex” on the campus of Morrisville State College home of the NCAA D-lll Morrisville Mustangs of the SUNYAC league and the Center State youth hockey association as well as the Cazenovia High School hockey team. The Stampede will begin their third season of play at Morrisville and have settled nicely in their home. The Stampede not only have a schedule that mirrors the college schedule for optimal player exposure to college coaches. They also have their own private locker room as well as a staff office within the Ice-Plex complex. “The exposure is second to none for our players. Working with NCAA D-lll coaches that are in the rink on a daily basis really helps, not only promoting our players but any team that comes into town to play during the season.” states Beavis The Stampede and the NA3HL will continue to be a very large supplier of players to the NCAA college ranks over the next season and into the future. “As a player will you be next ? It’s your choice… Make it count.” “The Stampede is a proven pathway to College Hockey”.
