New York, NY, October 4, 2016 — The National Women’s Hockey League – and we mean the entire NWHL – is opening its second season in Buffalo, one of the greatest hockey towns in North America, with an unprecedented trio of games featuring all four of its franchises.

The 2016-17 regular season will be launched with “Opening Weekend presented by Dunkin’ Donuts” – three games in three nights at the state-of-the-art HARBORCENTER in Buffalo, October 7-9. The weekend will also celebrate the International Ice Hockey Federation’s Girls’ Hockey Weekend with the first-ever NWHL Futures Tournament. A special Try Hockey for Free event held in partnership with USA Hockey kicks off the weekend at 5 p.m. on October 7th. The weekend’s schedule includes:

Friday, October 7 at 7:30 pm: Boston Pride at Buffalo Beauts

The Beauts’ home opener is a rematch of last year’s Isobel Cup Finals.

Saturday, October 8 at 7:30 pm: New York Riveters vs Boston Pride

The defending champion Pride with Olympians including Hilary Knight and Meghan Duggan take on the Riveters, featuring Amanda Kessel in her NWHL regular season debut.

Sunday, October 9 at 7:30 pm: Connecticut Whale at Buffalo Beauts

The hometown Beauts play their second game of the season against Kelli Stack and the Whale.

Individual tickets for these games are $20 and available now at nwhl.zone/tickets. Weekend packages are also available on the website. The NWHL Futures Tournament will showcase 16 teams, with players age U-8 to U-14, representing each of the NWHL’s four markets.
