Hobart College Hockey Head Coach Mark Taylor recently announced that seniors Bo Webster (Aurora, Ontario), Jon Neal (Encinitas, Calif.) and Nick Bingaman (Paradise Valley, Ariz.) will serve as captains for the 2016-17 season.
Webster served as a captain last season, but an injury kept him off the ice. In 2014-15, he led the Statesmen with 25 points and 17 assists. Webster finished that year tied for third in the conference in assists, tied for fifth in points and power-play points (12), and tied for seventh in power-play goals (4). He garnered a spot on the 2014-15 All-ECAC West second team for his efforts. Webster earned a spot on the ECAC West All-Academic team in 2013 and 2014.
Neal received D3hockey.com All-Region third team and All-ECAC West second team accolades last winter. He played in 27 games and dished out nine assists. Neal finished the season tied for 15th in the conference in defenseman scoring. He played a key role in the Statesmen defense that finished the year tied for fifth in the nation in scoring defense (1.86 ga/gm). Neal is a two-time member of the ECAC West All-Academic team.
Last winter, Bingaman posted 23 points on eight goals and 15 assists. He ranked fourth in the conference in assists, tied for eighth in power-play points (7) and power-play goals (3), tied for ninth in points and tied for 12th in goals. Bingaman has earned a spot on the ECAC West All-Academic squad for the last two years in a row.
Hobart finished the 2015-16 season with a 21-5-2 overall record and a 12-3-0 mark in the ECAC West. The Statesmen captured their second straight ECAC West tournament title and made their sixth appearance in the NCAA tournament.
