MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – (Morrisville photo) – The Morrisville State Men’s Ice Hockey team looked to rebound on Saturday night after an opening season loss. Unfortunately, two early goals were not enough as Stevenson stormed back for the 5-2 win.

The visiting Mustangs got on the board first at the 3:37 mark in the first period with a goal by Joseph Santino (Woodbridge, Ontario). Jordan Carvalho (Brampton, Ontario) and Dane Moore (Cadillac, Mich.) provided the assists.

With 37 seconds left in the first period, Morrisville extended their lead to 2-0 on an unassisted goal by Ian Wood (Pittsburgh, Pa.).

The visiting Mustangs held firm until the 10:36 mark in the second period. However, two goals in just over two minutes by Stevenson evened the score at 2 goals apiece.

Both teams held each other scoreless for the first eight minutes of the third period, but it was the home Mustangs who pulled away with a goal by Nick Bohatiuk, his second of the game.

Stevenson would tack on two more insurance goals, one at the 15:08 mark and the other at the 19:15 mark. Bohatiuk would score the fifth and final goal for Stevenson, picking up the hat trick.

Morrisville will look to turn things around on Friday, November 4 as they host SUNY Potsdam in their home opener. The game will also be the first game of the Mustangs conference slate for the season. The puck is set to drop at the IcePlex at 7 PM.
